Inspired by the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection—a national treasure of nearly 10,000 garments dating from the 16th century—the capsule collection draws directly from royal history. Cotton smocked frocks are inspired by dresses worn by young Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret, whilst sailor suits immortalise boyhood mariner wonder, all made with heirloom tailoring fit for the modern family that holds nobility in manner as a value.
“For us, it was a privilege,” shares Pepa London’s Founder and Creative Director, Pepa González. “To see these dresses up close, to witness the craftsmanship and sentimental value stitched into their seams. We wanted to take those memories… of gardens, giggles, and childhood rituals and reimagine them through our own lens of British elegance and craftsmanship."
The resulting collection is a marvel of detail and restraint. Delicate pastel palettes sit alongside archival-inspired florals, while the signature sailor silhouette is revisited in crisp structured cottons and sharp tailoring, gilded with fine piped finishes. Every garment nods to the formality and finery of British royal tradition, yet remains gentle enough for summer play, tailored for the present.
Shot on location within the storied grounds of Hampton Court Palace, the campaign echoes the very spirit of the garments, bringing centuries of costume and court ritual back to life. The collection is also meaningful on the philanthropical front. A portion of proceeds will support Historic Royal Palaces, the independent charity responsible for safeguarding some of the UK’s most iconic royal landmarks—including the Tower of London, Kew Palace, Hillsborough Castle, and Kensington Palace. The organisation is also steward of the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection, a national archive devoted to preserving and cherished clothing worn throughout history by members of the royal family.
For modern families who value of tradition and heirloom craftsmanship, Pepa London offers not only a sartorial answer in clothing to be worn, but also to be remembered, preserved, and passed down.
In the words of González, “This is more than a collection. It is a tribute to the beauty of tradition and the joy of childhood.”
